1.What is an Electronic Invoice?
According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in Taiwan, an electronic invoice (e-invoice) is a Government Uniform Invoice (GUI) that is issued, transmitted and received over the internet or by other electronic ways.
Broadly speaking, it is a form of GUI whose information can be transmitted to Ministry of Finance over the internet.
2.Why using Electronic Invoice?
Save paper: Less printing in favor of the environment.
Reduce costs: Reduce costs associated with printing and delivery of paper invoices.
Save physical storage space: Invoice information can be stored on the cloud (online).
Tech-savvy: Improve operational efficiency.
Digitalize accounting process: Decrease the risk of errors and enhance account reconciliation.
Reduce environmental impact, carry out corporate social responsibility.
It is an established policy also a new trend all over the world.
3.How to apply for E-invoice?
Suppliers who are qualified to use e-invoice, which means they have obtained the approval from local taxing authority, can conduct authentication on the E-invoice platform by using electronic signature or certificate. Suppliers also can ask value added service center to run authentication for them. After passing the authentication, suppliers will be able to start to use it.
4.Does Taiwan receipt lottery apply to E-invoice as well?
Yes, E-invoices are included in the bimonthly Taiwan receipt lottery as well.
In addition to the regular GUI prizes, cloud invoices have their own special prizes.
(There are 1000 prizes of NT$2,000 and 15 prizes of NT$1,000,000 currently exclusive to cloud invoices.)
If you won the prizes, remember to bring the e-receipts certificate to collect prizes at any Post Office. You can also go to the designated convenience stores to collect prizes if the winnings are below NT$1,000.
5.What is Carrier?
The MOF have authorized certain devices to log or connect information of E-invoice digitally, these kinds of devices are called “Carrier”.
Shortly speaking, carriers are devices that are capable of keeping the information and data of e-invoices. Carriers can be roughly divided into two kinds: Ordinary Carrier and Cellphone carrier.
˙Ordinary Carrier, the following devices -- Easy card, icash, IC card and membership cards from stores can act as e-invoice carriers.
˙Cellphone Carrier - Smartphone barcode: Consumers can ask suppliers to issue an e-invoice by scanning the smartphone barcode on smartphones.
In addition, customers can integrate their Ordinary Carriers with their Cellphone Carrier.
